Celebrate Freedom and Give Back to Bermuda

Americans and Bermudians share a long history of freedom and with freedom comes the obligation to give back.  There is already a strong commitment to philanthropy in Bermuda and the American Consulate General and the American Society of Bermuda want to build on that commitment.   One way to do that is to make Bermuda’s charities the focus of our Independence Day festivities.  And of course, it never hurts to have fun with friends while doing something positive for the larger community.

This year’s Independence Day Celebration will be on Saturday, June 28, 2008 from 6-10 p.m. at Moresby Plain.  Confirmed members of the American Society will receive wristbands to the event, which are required for entry. They will be available on June 25, 26 and 27 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the foyer or on the steps of City Hall.

Our generous sponsors will provide wristbands to their employees, according to the level of sponsorship.  Wristbands and other information will be delivered directly to each sponsor, so there will be no need to pick them up at City Hall.

As last year, there will be free public transportation – express buses and fast ferries.  Details are still being worked out, but rest assured that guests will be able to travel with a minimum of stress, courtesy of the Ministry of Tourism and Transport. Thank you, Premier Brown!
