New US Consul General Gregory Slayton is scheduled to arrive on the Island tomorrow.
Mr. Slayton was sworn in by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on August 15.
Before becoming Consul General, Mr. Slayton was managing director of Slayton Capital, a private venture capital firm headquartered in Virginia with offices in California.
He was co-chairman of the Silicon Valley Bush 2000 fundraising committee.
A native of Ohio, Mr. Slayton studied economics at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and as a Fulbright Scholar received a Masters in Asian studies from the University of the Philippines. He holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. Mr. Slayton has lived and worked extensively in Africa, Asia and Latin America managing micro-credit and economic development programmes for the poor. The multilingual Mr. Slayton remains active in international development.
He occasionally co-teaches at the Harvard Business School and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
He is an avid tennis player and a recreational golfer who also enjoys water sports and soccer.
