THE AMERICAN CONSULATE GENERAL

For Immediate Release                                                    September 20, 2007

“AMERICAN CONSULATE ANNOUNCES
NEW SERVICE UPGRADES”

Effective October 1, 2007, most Consular services provided at the U.S. Consulate General in Hamilton will be by appointment only.

Appointments must be booked on-line via our website at http://hamilton.usconsulate.gov.

Adult passport renewals and applications for additional adult pages should be done by drop-off and will not require an appointment.  Instructions are available on our website.  Drop-off hours will be Monday through Friday, 9:30 – 3:30, except for U.S. and Bermudian holidays.

On-line appointment booking for citizenship inquiries, passport renewals for minors, visa services, and notarials will “go live” September 24.

As Consul General Gregory Slayton noted, “This is the second major change in consular services in the last twelve months.  We at the American Consulate put customer service at the top of our priority list and this upgrade – like the electronic visa application form we introduced in 2006 – is designed with the consumer in mind.”

  • Services by appointment should reduce time spent in the waiting room for our clients.
  • Our website makes it possible for customers to access information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • The on-line booking service will be available 24-7 for our customers’ convenience.
